Freakonomics reports on working paper by government lawyer regarding Realtors, the six percent commission, discount brokers, antitrust issues, the MLS, and everything in between. Too much anecdotal evidence and academic speculation in the working paper for my taste. Also amusing to have an attorney criticize the commission structure given the notoriety of lawyers' "billable hour" and "contingency fee" pricing.
