Staging Secrets for Real Estate Agents

For homes that are vacant staging can be a big help. Due to the foreclosures increasing in San Diego many of the homes are vacant and have no furniture in them. Staging an entire house is very difficult and if hired out very expensive. We find that staging 2 or 3 rooms is enough to entice people out to see the home and have a good feeling about the homes décor when they view it. Staging the kitchen is a must and using counter decorations common to a kitchen is very appealing. Staging a family room or living room and putting up paintings, plants and knick-knacks on shelves is a good idea. Make sure all the staging furniture and decorations are tasteful don’t use ugly or weird stuff. Most buyers have kids so using kid’s toys in the bedrooms and little kids or baby clothes hung up in the children’s rooms closets can help. Make sure it is enticing to everyone not just to you.

I completely agree -- I just had three 'challenging' rooms staged and was able to negotiate the price with the Staging Company. Just having the living room, dining room and kitchen staged made a world of difference at my last open house. And the price? Only $1500 for 3 months (that includes staging, movers and furniture rental).
